Fundación Cisneros

The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) is one of the core cultural and educational initiatives of the Fundación Cisneros. Based in New York City and Caracas, the wide-ranging program was established in the 1970s by Patricia Phelps de Cisneros and Gustavo A. Cisneros in order to advance scholarship on Latin American art, promote excellence in visual-arts education, and encourage a high level of expertise among Latin American art professionals. The CPPC additionally works to enhance appreciation of the diversity, sophistication, and range of art from Latin America. It achieves these goals through the preservation and study of the material culture of the Ibero-American world— from colonial and federalist furniture to modern and contemporary art—as well as the material evidence of Latin America’s indigenous peoples. CPPC activities include exhibitions, publications, grants for scholarly research and artistic production, and the internationally recognized education initiatives Piensa en arte\Think Art.

La Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) es una de las principales iniciativas educativas y culturales de la Fundación Cisneros. Con sede en Nueva York y Caracas, este programa de gran alcance fue establecido en 1970 por Patricia Phelps de Cisneros y Gustavo A. Cisneros con el fin de lograr avances en el conocimiento del arte latinoamericano, promover la excelencia en la educación artística y fomentar un alto nivel de formación entre profesionales del arte latinoamericano. Adicionalmente, la CPPC trabaja para promover una mayor apreciación de la diversidad, la sofisticación y variedad del arte de América Latina. Estos objetivos se logran a través de la promoción y el estudio de la cultura material iberoamericana, que incluye desde el mobiliario colonial y republicano hasta el arte moderno y contemporáneo, abarcando también la herencia cultural y material de las comunidades indígenas latinoamericanas. Las actividades de la CPPC incluyen exhibiciones, publicaciones, becas para la investigación y la producción artística, así como la reconocida iniciativa educativa Piensa en arte\Think Art.
